New exhibit arrives at Newark Air Museum

Newark Air Museum has entered into a loan agreement, which will see the cockpit of former ‘biz-jet’ HS-125-3B, G-AVAI displayed at the museum’s Drove Lane site into 2012 and perhaps until Cockpit-Fest 2012.
The partially restored cockpit was moved from its former location on Wednesday 12th October 2011 by its owner Andy Rawden; and it has been positioned alongside the Canberra T.17 cockpit section and the Lightning T5 aircraft on the museum site. This particular location is poignant for Andy because whilst serving in the RAF he did the last major servicing on this particular Lightning.
The arrangement for the loan was finalised during recent weeks and the museum trustees were pleased to be able to provide accommodation for this particular trailer mounted cockpit section.
HS-125-3B, G-AVAI (25125) was first registered by Hawker Siddeley Aviation on 17th October 1966, and has also flown under Norwegian, French and Nigerian registrations during its extensive operational life; before ending its days an instructional airframe in the north-east of England.
During its first overseas operation from October 1968 until December 1972; as LN-NPA, “Busy Bee of Norway” with the Norwegian airline Busy Bee Air Services A-S this particular aircraft developed a strong local ‘following’. Its recent restoration by Andy Rawden has been followed closely by enthusiasts in Norway.
